Job Title: Commercial Finance Business Partner
Function: Motion (A Mediahuis Ireland Company)
Reporting to: Finance Business Controller
Location: Dublin; Hybrid (3 days in office)
Role Purpose
The Finance Business Partner - Commercial will play a critical role within the Motion Finance Team, acting as a strategic partner to the business by delivering financial insight, commercial guidance, and operational support. Reporting to the Finance Business Controller, this role is responsible for supporting three digital automotive brands – CarsIreland, Carzone, and Cartell – through robust financial analysis, data-driven decision-making, and process optimisation.
The role will collaborate closely with Sales, Senior Leadership, and Cross-functional Stakeholders to drive pricing strategies, identify growth opportunities, and improve internal efficiencies. With a strong focus on commercial acumen and process automation, the Commercial Finance Business Partner will help shape and influence the performance and profitability of the brands, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and long-term business goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Revenue Management
- Lead the analysis and reporting of all revenue streams across the Motion portfolio, identifying key trends, risks, and growth opportunities.
- Review and verify billing data within Salesforce, ensuring alignment with financial records.
- Support the month-end close process by reviewing revenue and cost lines and submitting adjustments to the Accounting Team in relation to accruals, deferrals and other revenue related provisions.
- Liaise with external auditors when required to address queries and ensure reporting accuracy.
Commercial Support & Strategic Insight
- Provide in-depth financial analysis and commercial insights to support strategic decisions, commercial initiatives, and business performance tracking.
- Support Commercial teams in forecasting monthly and long-term revenue outlooks.
- Collaborate with Sales and Customer Support teams to implement and review pricing strategies and process changes that align with commercial goals.
- Work closely with Marketing team to manage spend versus budget across the three Motion brands and provide forecasting support.
Systems & Process Improvement
- Identify, design, and implement automation opportunities across financial and commercial processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual work.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance system integrations and streamline operational workflows.
- Simplify financial procedures and data flows to enable sales teams to focus on strategic, value-added activities.
Business Planning & Stakeholder Engagement
- Partner with business units during the Planning and Forecasting cycles, providing financial inputs to support the annual budget and rolling forecasts.
- Engage with external partners (e.g., tech consultants, account managers) to support system reviews and assess new partnership opportunities.
- Represent Finance in cross-functional projects and strategic initiatives, contributing commercial and financial expertise.
Leadership & Ad Hoc Support
- Provide cover for the Finance Business Controller when required, ensuring continuity in leadership and decision-making.
- Perform ad hoc financial reporting and analysis to support evolving business needs.
Skills, Experience and Personal Attributes
- Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) with 1-3 years post-qualification experience in a commercial or financial business partnering role.
- Demonstrated experience working in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment, with a proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a high level of attention to detail and a commitment to data accuracy.
- Commercial mindset with the ability to interpret financial data to drive strategic and operational decision-making.
- Experience with using Salesforce or experience in system enhancements or process automation is a plus.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
