We are looking for a creative and energetic reporter to join our regional editorial team and help us grow and diversify our digital audience. The Job in a Nutshell The reporter will be part of a versatile, news driven team based in Wexford and will focus on reporting on local news and contribute to our award-winning journalism for both the Irish Independent online and in our print titles in Co Wexford – Wexford People, New Ross Standard, Gorey Guardian and Enniscorthy Guardian.
The role of the reporter is to report local news content from Co Wexford reporting directly to the editor in Wexford. This role will primarily be based in our Wexford office in Wexford Town, with the option of some remote working as well.
Role Responsibilities (Overview)
- Local interviews and feature-writing to a high standard
- Fast, breaking news from the region
- Work closely with local photographers and freelance contributors
- Liaise with the regional audience team and contribute to social media
- Edit the content to a very high standard ensuring that all material published meets the legal and quality standards set out
- Work closely with the editors in developing new ideas
Experience & Qualifications (Minimum Experience & Essential Knowledge)
- News reporting experience is essential
- Full driver’s licence and own transport
- Based in the region

- Demonstrate an appetite to increase market-share and support the Independent brand as the leader in news coverage
- Excellent communication skills required
