Position Title: Head of Digital Editing and Transformation

Location: Dublin

Job Type: Full-Time

Reports To: Director of Publishing Operations

 

Position Overview:

The Head of Digital Editing and Transformation will take the lead on digital editorial production and sub-editing, ensuring that all content workflows are optimised for digital platforms and print/e-paper. This role requires a visionary leader with a strong background in digital media, sub-editing, and transformation initiatives.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

Leadership and Strategy:

  • Develop and implement a strategic vision for digital editing and transformation in co-ordination with the Head of Newspaper Operations.

  • Lead and mentor a team of production journalists and sub-editors.

  • Foster a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the team.

Digital Workflow Optimisation:

 

  • Oversee sub-editing processes to ensure they align with digital-first workflows.

  • Implement best practices for digital content creation, editing, and publishing.

  • Ensure all content is optimised for various digital platforms, including web, mobile, and social media.

Quality Assurance:

 

  • Maintain high standards of accuracy, clarity, and consistency in all digital content.

  • Conduct regular audits of digital content to ensure compliance with required workflows and editorial guidelines.

  • Address and resolve any issues related to digital content quality.

Collaboration and Communication:

 

  • Work collaboratively with the Head of Newspaper Operations to ensure all content is ready for newspaper production.

  • Work closely with other departments, including marketing, IT, and product development, to ensure seamless integration of digital content.

  • Communicate effectively with stakeholders to understand their needs and provide digital solutions.

  • Represent the digital editing team in cross-functional meetings and projects

Innovation and Transformation:

 

  • Stay updated with the latest trends and technologies in digital media and editing.

  • Lead initiatives to adopt new tools and technologies that enhance digital content workflows.

  • Drive transformation projects that improve efficiency and effectiveness of digital content production – in collaboration with the Head of Product.

  • Work on various transformation projects as required by editorial leadership team.

Performance Monitoring:

 

  • Set and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for the digital editing team.

  • Analyse performance data to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.

  • Report on the progress and outcomes of digital transformation initiatives.
