Job Title: Assistant Audio Producer, Crime World (Maternity Cover)

Reporting to: Investigations Editor/Crime World Podcast Producer

 

Role Purpose

Part of the Mediahuis publishing department, this is a highly creative role working within the audio team and with presenters, editors, and journalists across Mediahuis Ireland. The Assistant Producer plays a key role in the production of the Crime World podcast and oversees output from pre-production, research to recording, editing, and publishing.

 

Role Responsibilities (Overview)

  • Generate and develop original ideas for Crime World podcasts

  • Develop strong relationships with presenters and regular contributors

  • Identify and secure the best contributors

  • Write creative and concise briefs and running orders

  • On-air reporting when necessary

  • Take a hands-on, entrepreneurial approach to make sure shows are produced on time and to the highest possible standards

  • Work closely with sound designers, give clear feedback and direction in post-production

  • Use music to bring stories to life when necessary

  • Manage studio bookings and recordings both in studio and on location

  • Provide promotional clips and assets to the Audience team and in conjunction with marketing and commercial departments to ensure podcasts are promoted across all our platforms

  • Contribute to strategy on building audience reach

  • Other duties as required

Experience & Qualifications

  • At least 2 years’ podcast or broadcast experience

  • 3rd level media/journalist qualification desirable

Skills & Attributes

Technical & Non-technical

  • Hands-on, creative experience of radio or podcast production

  • Editing skills (Adobe Audition and/or Protools) and experience of other relevant software (CMS and transcription)

  • Data literate, comfortable with all podcast platform metrics

  • Deep interest and understanding of the podcast landscape
