Role Purpose

The Events Sales Executive is responsible for driving sponsorship and partnership revenue across the Belfast Telegraph’s portfolio of high profile events. This dynamic role combines sales, client relationship management, and hands on event execution. You will be a key part of the commercial team, identifying opportunities for business growth, creating tailored sponsorship packages, and delivering exceptional event experiences that reflect the Belfast Telegraph brand.

Operating out of our Belfast office, you will proactively engage with new and existing clients, working across multiple sectors to grow the events portfolio. You’ll collaborate closely with editorial, marketing, and operations teams to ensure each event exceeds expectations in both commercial and audience impact.

Role Responsibilities (overview):

  • Generate and grow sponsorship revenue across a diverse range of Belfast Telegraph events
  • Identify, approach, and convert new business opportunities through strategic outreach, networking, and relationship building.
  • Develop tailored sponsorship proposals and presentations to align with client objectives and maximise ROI.
  • Maintain accurate sales pipelines and forecasts to meet and exceed revenue targets.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to develop event concepts, timelines, and project plans.
  • Oversee event logistics from concept to delivery, ensuring seamless coordination across all stakeholders.
  • Act as the main point of contact for sponsors, ensuring commitments are met and expectations exceeded.
  • Manage on-site event delivery, ensuring professional execution, troubleshooting live challenges, and maintaining brand standards.
  • Work closely with marketing and editorial teams to design and deliver event promotion campaigns that drive attendance and visibility.
  • Support the creation of event marketing materials, digital assets, and communication plans.
  • Collaborate with editorial teams to identify content or speaker opportunities that enhance event value and prestige
  • Build and maintain long-term, trusted relationships with sponsors, partners, and key stakeholders.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to clients and internal teams.
  • Gather post event feedback to refine future offerings and maintain client satisfaction.
  • Conduct post event reviews, analysing performance against KPIs and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Deliver sponsor reports demonstrating the value of partnership and engagement outcomes.

                                                                 

Experience & Qualifications (Minimum Experience & Essential Knowledge)

  • Proven track record in sales or sponsorship preferably within media, events, or publishing.
  • Excellent relationship building and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong negotiation and presentation abilities with confidence dealing with senior decision makers.
  • Exceptional organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
  • A creative and proactive problem solver with strong commercial acumen.
  • Competent in budget management and contract negotiation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and CRM systems.
  • High levels of energy, motivation, and a passion for success.

Desirable:

  • Previous experience working on corporate awards, business conferences, or B2B networking events.
  • Knowledge of the Northern Ireland business landscape and strong local network.
  • A collaborative mindset and the ability to work effectively within a cross-functional team.
